
Job Title: Tax Compliance Associate
About the Role: The Tax Compliance Associate is an entry-level position within the Finance and Accounts function, based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The role involves supporting the tax and audit team in executing tax audit assignments by assisting with data collection, documentation, reconciliation, and compliance checks. The position offers an opportunity for freshers to develop expertise in taxation, audit procedures, and financial documentation, working under supervision to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities: Routine Execution - Collect financial data, invoices, ledgers, and supporting documents for audits - Prepare and organize audit working papers and documentation - Perform basic reconciliation of financial records (sales, purchases, GST data) - Verify compliance with tax regulations and internal policies - Maintain proper documentation and audit trails Coordination - Collaborate with internal teams (accounts, finance) to gather required information - Follow up on missing documents or clarifications - Assist in preparing reports and audit summaries - Ensure timely submission of audit-related data Problem-Solving - Identify data inconsistencies or missing information and escalate as needed - Conduct basic checks to validate data accuracy - Assist in resolving minor discrepancies under supervision

Key Skills & Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Commerce (B.Com), Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration; MBA (Finance) preferred but not mandatory - 0–1 year of experience; internships or academic exposure in accounting, taxation, or audit advantageous - Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements - Awareness of taxation concepts (GST, Income Tax basics) - Knowledge of audit documentation and processes (basic level) - Proficiency in MS Excel (formulas, data organization) - Ability to perform data reconciliation and validation - Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills - Effective written and verbal communication - Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines - Professional integrity and confidentiality Special Requirements: - Basic familiarity with GST returns and compliance - Exposure to accounting entries and ledger scrutiny - Interest in pursuing certifications such as CA, CMA, or CPA - Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks) and GST portal - Ability to follow defined processes and compliance guidelines - Not expected to independently lead audits or make complex tax judgments at this stage - After 3–6 months of training, candidates should be able to handle basic audit documentation, perform reconciliations, and understand key tax compliance requirements with minimal supervision This role offers a pathway for career progression to positions such as Tax Executive, Senior Tax Executive, Assistant Manager – Tax, or Manager – Taxation/Compliance, with salary expectations aligned within the company's budget.
