Job Description

Job Name Sub-System Technical Manager (SSTM)
MISSION
• SSTM will report to the regional Project Management Office of the region and be responsible for the systems of BCI Perimeter (Body, Chassis and Interior systems of the vehicle). The role is to coordinate with relevant functions to guarantee the complete development, validation and/or maintenance of relevant systems/ components (Platform, Module, Program, Top Hat) to meet quality, performance, innovation, benchmark, timing and cost targets assigned.
• The SSTM will be supported by the Product development Responsible (Sub System Tech Lead- SSTLs), for each sub system (like Body, Chassis, Interior and Mechatronic system).
• The SSTM will be a Single point contact between Product Development teams and Vehicle Projects team (Cross Car Line Program). He/She will work with Chief Vehicle Engineer (CVE), Vehicle Performance Manager (VPM), Vehicle Technical Manager (VTM), Vehicle Synthesis Manager (VSM), etc., for program specific activity.

MAIN TASKS
• To represent the relevant function at vehicle forum and assembly plant, with the appropriate SSTLs or Development Engineers wherever necessary.
• To report to Management meeting
• To monitor and control at BCI level for his own perimeter: modifications, packaging issue closing plan, production standard, readiness at Product Development Milestones, solution implementation, design KPI, risk analysis, test plan, sourcing, weight, cost convergence, style feasibility and validation.
• Accountable, on its perimeter and with support of SSTL, of Cost/Quality/ Performances/Planning targets appointed to BCI
• Responsible for Process feasibility, in collaboration with Manufacturing team, monitoring Plant readiness.
• To monitor and control workload, resource allocation and budget convergence with for start of development (Contract Milestone) and for all development period.
• To execute escalation process.
• To manage BCI project team participation to relevant development phases.
• To execute Mule vehicle builds- kick-off and monitoring.
• To support regional SSTLs in Technical Reviews and lead technical issues management, ensuring cross functional alignment on solutions/root cause.
• To develop response to Product investigation requests from Vehicle projects team (e.g. with the support of Engineering functions.
• For Platform and Module SSTM, to keep control on technical solutions, guaranteeing the management and approval of the design changes, including quality, performance, timing, cost and weight deviations on a global basis.
• In case of Program responsibilities, to guarantee coherence, commonality and coordination on a global basis.
• To address the Lesson Learned applications across programs/ regions.
Within his responsibilities, SSTM has to guarantee the conformity to Internal Control System rules.
Experience and Skills required:
No of Years:
• Minimum of 20 years of Automotive industry experience in Passenger car design and development.
• Should have been part of Engineering Design and Development of Systems, Sub Systems and Components
Project Management Skills:
• Should have worked on Complete product development cycle in Design and development of passenger cars, from Concept to Launch.
• Knowledge of Program Timelines, Milestone definition and KPIs, Program dashboards, Management Presentations and Program Review Presentations
• Should have sound Project Management skills with strong communication, presentation and inter-personal skills.
• Ability to handle CFT interactions with Costing, Purchase, Supplier quality, Manufacturing Engineering and Plant teams
• Strong Managerial and decision-making skills
Technical Skills:
• Essential to have knowledge and exposure to parts and systems of BIW, Body Exterior Trims, Interior Trims & systems (seats, Cockpit, etc) and Chassis parts and systems.
• Should have worked on detailed Design and Development of at least one of the BCI systems (Body, Chassis, and Interior) at Sub system and Component level during his/her early experience.
• Desirable to have knowledge on mechanisms and electromechanical modules of automobiles (like wiper system, Door modules, mirrors and lamps, latches & hardware, etc)
• Experience in RFQ preparation, Technical Evaluation of supplier offers, Supplier Audit / evaluations, Engineering support for Supplier selection, Tool Kick-off, Trials and PPAP / buy off.
• Knowledge on regional Government Regulations and technical requirements for passenger vehi
